Fan Research at Silverstone
Wow, what a weekend! I just got back from FAN RESEARCH at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Nothing beats contextual inquiry for gaining a deep understanding of fans.
We can do surveys. We can automatically track fan behavior — Both provides good and important insights.
But going to an event, hanging out with fans, talking to them and observing them in context provides deep and unexpected insights that we would never get from sitting in a meeting room looking at analytics reports. I learned so many things and have gathered so many new ideas by being there live (and camping with fans).
So, go outside of the building. Do it regularly. Hang out with fans, customers, users. Speak to them in context. See them in action. — By doing that you’ll be able to super fuel your product development beyond your wildest imagination.
